Prescription Drugs: A Deadly Addiction

Addictions to prescription drugs and painkillers have risen sharply from 2000 to 2010, so says new analyses from The Associated Press. In 2008 alone, there were 14,800 deaths attributed to overdoses of painkillers such as percocet, hydrocodone, and oxycodone. Drug rehabs are even seeing a sharp increase of enrollments from addicts who were originally addicted to heroin and/or cocaine, but switched over to prescription drugs because of their wild availability.
